Devotional Arrangement

This semester I'm in a Floral Portfolio class, which is basically two hours a week set aside for me to practice designing to build my portfolio--also, it's a good incentive for me to finally scrounge up pictures of the weddings I've done over the last nine years . . . which will begin to be posted soon . . . Anyway.

The first day of my Portfolio class, January 13th, I was paired up with Goldie, a classmate that did her internship last semester at The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, and Ashley, another pre-internship student like me. Goldie has been assigned as our mentor for the semester, and directed Ashley and me in this design:

We used orange and red roses, leucadendron, spider mums, monte casino, solidago, curly willow, and then added silk orchids for a little more fun. For greens we used boxwood, myrtle, salal, and some crazy awesome plume grass.

Oh, and then we added peacock feathers as well. I think they put that extra pop that the arrangement needed. ;) Now I only wish that I'd taken the time to get a picture with a decent background.

I love how the orange roses and blue on the peacock feathers pop at you!
